Utah 2003 Offense - Perimeter Runs
Urban Meyer and Dan Mullen have had plenty of success running the inside zone play over the years and to complement that play of course they have some perimeter runs as well. “18/19 Toss” is an example of a perimeter play in the 2003 Utah playbook. I did not see an outside zone stretch hand off play so this toss play probably suffices to fill that need. The example below is run from under center. The video at the bottom will show some plays from shotgun.

Here is a closer look at an example of “18-19 Toss” run from under center with a 3 WR bunch formation.

There is some video included down below and only a couple of the plays are run from under center like above. Most of the plays are run from the shotgun with slightly different action. Click here for “18/19 Truck” out of the 2003 Utah playbook run out of shotgun. Utah also runs a speed sweep type play to attack the perimeter as well. Here is an example of that play “28-29 Speed Sweep” if interested. In the video there a couple of direct snaps to the tailback as well. Most plays go to the trips side. One of the direct snap plays goes opposite the trips set and winds up making a big gain.
