Post: Dear Coach Chow:

Please go back to college and coach.  And take your ten plays with you.

Sample Responses:

You can't call running the same 5 plays each to the left and right really 10 plays now can you??

I'd love to see a new o.c. come in and install a system tailored to Vince Young.
That's about all I have to say about that

Chow came here thinking Leinart was coming with him, didn’t work out

Chow needs to go, period. His game planning maybe handcuffed by Fish, & if so, he needs to save his own azz and leave b/c he sure looks like he can't call a game.

I personally have never liked Chow, and it has been expressed on numerous occasions.

Err nope. I've not liked the offense all year. I can only recall two games where Young's strengths were utilized. Even then we didn't let him loose for the full 4 qtrs.

In Chow's defense, a lot of people blame Chow for those seemingly ineffective WR screens. However, that play was responsible two TD's yesterday.

But here's my reasoning behind saying Chow is corny as a play caller..PREDICTABILITY and CONSERVATIVE play calling. It seems like we call the same plays back to back at times, and at the same down and distance throughout the game. There is no imagination in the play calling. Every week, there seems to be a wrinkle here and a wrinkle there, but nothing significantly new to the eyes for the most part. Where are the naked bootlegs, sprint rollouts, slip screens to the RB's, middle screens to the TE (Troupe or Scaife), QB waggles, QB draws, RB draw, or the occasional gadget play, and I could go on and on. We run the same play action pass plays, WR screens, and handoffs all game, and expect our team to move the ball consistently. last week was a decent Job of missing in some new stuff, and two weeks ago also, but for the most part, he 's BOOORRRIIIINNNNGGG.....YAWN!!

A good O-coordinator will keep a defense guessing, and unless you are terribly over matched, your game planning should win more battles than you lose. For us, it's the other way around.

Chow said after the game that such plays rarely work in the game like they do in practice. That shocked me a bit and made me wonder if he feels such plays are too risky to succeed or if he doesn't feel his offense can execute them properly.

The thing about Chow is he goes for stretches where he is going to be predictable regardless of outcome. Then he throws in a Utah pass or option play from the USC playbook that I think he does for the sake of showing variety instead of focusing on identifying and exploiting defensive tendencies and playing to his own strengths.

I was done with Chow after the Chargers game when we were deep in our own end in OT.

After the game Wycheck asked him about the three straight runs. Chow responded that he did not have much in the playbook for that, and that his biggest concern was turning the ball over that close to the end zone.

Either he has no faith in Vince or he is busy laying eggs (aka chicken)

I don’t think chow knows what kind of player VY is...he needs to understand vince young is the fastest starting QB in the NFL

Source: UCLA seeks interview with Titans' Chow

UCLA has contacted Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow and invited him to interview for their vacant head coaching position as soon as this weekend.

Sample responses

Please take him.

omfg. Please UCLA take him. PLEASE

He is holding back Vince and White. We need a new OC.. One that will allow Vince to be Vince. Not throw stupid azz screen passes and 5 yard passes that NEVER WORK

hmmm...i don't think he'll get the job. I hope he does though...Even moreso, I wish our chicken turd defensive coordinator would get hired somewhere...maybe there's a junior high out there with his name on it.

goodbye chow if u get the job, I though in the beginning bringing him would have been nice for the offense but now how many years is it? 2 or 3 since he got in the titans organization he hasn’t showed nothing special really so i think its better for us to let him go and bring someone better

Take him please!!! We need to find someone in the college ranks who can spread it out and run offense VY can be successful in. Goodbye mighty wizard.

Chow is not the answer. He is trying to turn VY into something he is not. That square peg round hole thing. The only thing that scares me is VY would have another new offensive coordinator and have to learn a new system.

please hire him....I'll chip in 20 bucks for his signing bonus....

Chow needs to go. Fish, oversees the play calling but trust me, he doesn't tell Chow what plays to run. That playbook belongs to Chow!!, it's his plays, he calls them. I'm sure Fish "Suggests" when to run, or pass AT TIMES, but that play calling is Chows doing. Somehow he forgot that he was coaching a Potentially one of the most explosive offensive weapons of our time in VY, and began thinking he was coaching one of his pure pocket passers (Palmer/Leinart).

Did anyone see the Texans/Denver Game last night?? Now Denver had some nice play calling, throwing it down field, stretch run plays w/zone blocking, play action boots, designed QB rollouts, Naked Boots w/Cutler no less. I mean the play calling was very imaginative, and very effective, and most of all, IT WASN'T SOOOOO PREDICTABLE.

Funny, but I don't think we have a lot of Chow supporters here.

I believe it's widely known here that I am not part of the Chow Fan Club.

That said, it may be tough to get rid of him simply because he reputedly gives really lousy interviews. It may even get worse when he can't point to a success story in Nashville.

Yep, we suck on 1st down. Just to damn predictable. Hopefully Chow goes and this all gets sorted out.

Norm Chow Fired Posts

Sample Responses:

This will make a lot of people very happy. I just really hope that we bring in someone better.

Rather do it early than late. Changes needed to be made. We'll see who we bring in.

This is a good move. For whatever reason- his offensive unit clearly wasn't getting it done.

One down, one to go.

na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey gooooooooooood byeeeeee

Someone remind me of what Billy Volek said??  Something along the lines of "Norm, your offense sucks and no one will ever succeed in it."
And then he was ran out of town by Fisher for being "whiny".
Two years later, Norm is fired.
Things that make ya go.... hmmmmmmmmmmmm............

I think it had a lot to do with Fisher getting his feelings hurt.
I do think I remember something about Volek saying Chow's offense sucks, but I'm not 100%. Just find it ironic that Volek gets run out of town and two years later... Well, guess no one can succeed in Norm's O.

Well there should be a rule: The offensive coordinator of any team who’s kicker is All-Pro should be fired.

so far this off season we are 1 positive 1 negative
Pac Man's incident basically removes him from this team. 1 negative
Norm Chow being fired is 1 positive

Ciao Chow!

couldn't have been a good thing that Chow called VY a "pouter" to a national press member on national TV

Whoa, I missed that one. Anyone have any info on that? Anyway, our offense was terrible because Chow misused VY. He'll be good but we need new blood.

I agree with Zackmann, Chow's recent comments coming into the Playoffs hurt the moral of the team as well as the impression of the team throughtout the League.

Fisher seems to be a good leader in my opinion and simply likes to keep the scuttlebutt in house. Bye Bye Volek, now Bye Bye Chow. It sure doesn't hurt that either of those individuals weren't high performers.

"vince young will never be what he's been hyped up to be" ....Maybe not, We'll see

"blaming it on the offensive coordinator is the wrong thing to do".... but it is the right thing to do when the offensive coordinator sucks

I saw ZERO creativity with regard to routes our receiver packages ran this year. It was either down and out or straight down the field. I am not sure Chow was able to adapt to the level of play in the NFL in his schemes, and combine that with a QB that did not appear to progress much in the passing game and you aren't going to exactly light it up.

My big beef with Chow was not attacking the EZ directly. I'm not saying I want bombs dropping from the 50. I'm saying, like the PO loss in SD for instance, when inside the 20 the occasional pass that is directed INTO the EZ instead of under the LBs would possibly increase the chances of actually having a TD pass - I'm just sayin' is all

Cow fired? Thank God!!!!!!!

As long as the OC tries for TDs instead of setting up Field Goals before halftime, and takes more redzone chances, I don't think we'll see much of a downgrade. It'll all come down to Fisher on if we'll see a newer O, or just someone to run the same style offense.

chow was seen leaving the Titans offices after cleaning out his office. All he had was a single manilla file folder with his three plays tucked away inside.

Along those lines I read an article online in the Tennessean
http://www.rctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll.../1002/MTCN0302
where Norm Chow references his frustrations with Vince and wonders if Vince was behind his firing, yet in contrast to that, VY issued a statement attributing his development to Norm Chow and expressing appreciation for all Norm Chow did for him. Based on that, who took the high road? Who was more gracious and, dare I say, mature? The 23 year-old or the 61 year-old?
